Recently, the first semi-solid injection molding magnesium alloy seat frame assembly independently developed by the Hongqi General Research and Development Institute (General R&D Institute) was assembled and successfully passed multiple seat function tests. It is about to enter the strength and durability bench test and complete vehicle test stages. This achievement marks another key breakthrough for Hongqi in the field of magnesium alloy lightweight technology, adding a solid guarantee for the application of automotive lightweight magnesium alloy products.

Building a Material-Process-Structure Joint Innovation System
Focusing onproduct lightweighting and high-performance goals, the Hongqi R&D team tackledchallenges from three aspacts: material, process, and structure.
In terms of materials and processes, they conquered dedicated magnesium alloy slurry refinement and process parameter virtual simulation debugging technologies, improving mechanical properties and internal quality of product;
In terms of structure, while ensuring the seat's 8-way adjustment function, 19 parts were integrated into 4 magnesium alloy parts, reducing assembly processes and improving efficiency.
Compared with traditional steel seat solutions, each seat assembly achieves a weight reduction of 1.35kg, reaching a 26% weight reduction ratio with the magnesium alloy application.

Accelerating the Transformation of Innovative Achievements from Laboratory to Production Line
With the goal of "rapid research and rapid application," the team promotes the movement of innovative technologies from the laboratory to the production line, transforming technological breakthroughs into product advantages. The magnesium alloy seat frame was developed based on the Hongqi modular seat frame solution, compatible with multiple Hongqi mass-produced and under-development models. The frame assembly and entire seat peripheral parts achieve universal matching with steel solutions, reducing mold switching costs brought by new technology applications to the maximum extent.
This successful assembly is an important milestone in Hongqi's magnesium alloy product layout. In the next step, the Hongqi General R&D Institute will continue to be guided by the "learning, equality, inclusiveness, pragmatism, achievement" R&D innovation pioneer culture, overcome magnesium alloy application difficulties, expand its application scenarios, enhance vehicle lightweighting levels, and solidify the technical foundation for users' high-efficiency, long-range travel.
