The International Mg Society (hereinafter referred to as ‘IMS’) consists of members interested in development of science and technology of magnesium and magnesium alloys. The members of the IMS should collaborate under conditions of complete cordiality, frankness and fair play in order to accomplish a given task to the exclusion of personal or commercial interest.
1.To unite the international Mg scientists and engineers with the aim to promote the Mg industries.
2.To stimulate research and development in science and technology of magnesium and magnesium alloys and to encourage the broad dissemination of the results.
3.To promote cooperation, exchange and friendship between international Mg scientists and engineers.
4.To provide a platform for international Mg scientists and engineers to share data, ideas, and results, etc..
1.International Mg Society supports Mg related journals, such as Journal of Magnesium and Alloys.
2.International Mg Society organizes the International Congress of IMS, the International Conference on Magnesium, and other academic activities.
3.International Mg Society establishes International Magnesium Science & Technology Award to reward the individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to magnesium science and technology.
4.International Mg Society promotes the transform of technological achievements in the field of magnesium and its alloys.
5.International Mg Society improves standardization of magnesium materials and products.
1.International Mg Society is guided by the Council which shall be responsible for making strategic plan, implementation of the objectives and for drawing up all policies and rules and deciding on other important matters.
2.The members of the Council shall be the president, vice presidents, and other renowned Mg experts. Each Council member has a term of 3 years.
3.Members of the Council is elected from the individual members of International Mg Society.
4.The Council shall appoint secretary for a term until the end of the next Congress.
5.The Council sets up Strategic Committee, Organizing Committee, Academic Committee, Industrial Committee, and Executive Committee.
The Strategic Committee is mainly responsible for making strategic plan, implementation of the objectives.
The Organizing Committee is mainly responsible for organizing conferences and activities, run awards of IMS.
The Academic Committee is mainly responsible for supporting Mg related journals and improving standards of magnesium and magnesium alloys.
The Industrial Committee is mainly responsible for promoting the transform of technological achievements in the field of magnesium and its alloys.
The executive committee is mainly responsible for running the office of the Council and dealing with routine duties.
1.Members of IMS is divided into unit member and individual member.
2.The unit member shall be universities, research centers, enterprises, and academic organizations which have scientists and engineers carrying out research and production of Mg and Mg alloys.
3.Individual member shall be persons have a significant interest in research and development of Mg and Mg alloys.
1.Any amendment to By-laws shall require at least one month advance notice to all Members of Council. This notice shall show the amended clause and the existing clause whenever applicable.
2.Amendments to the Constitution and Bye-laws may be introduced by the Executive Committee.
3.To become effective, amendments to the By-laws must receive a two-thirds majority vote of all board members. Should the proposed amendment not be resolved either by two-thirds for or one-third against on any one vote, the proposal shall be revised and re-submitted for subsequent voting until resolved. Amendments to the By-laws must receive a majority vote of all board members.
The Executive Committee reserves the right to the interpretation of the above clauses.
