The Mingyue Lake Laboratory and Chongqing University have jointly developed " MagNova ", the world's first big data and intelligent design platform for magnesium materials, and have been honored with the " Special Contribution on Innovation of the Year " at the 2025 Magnesium Science and Technology Awards.
In response to the pain points of traditional material research and development models, such as low efficiency, difficulties in achieving innovative breakthroughs, and constraints on the pace of new material research and development and the iteration of high-end equipment, the " MagNova " platform came into being. Focusing on light alloy materials, the platform has aggregated over 500,000 scientific and technological literature pieces and patent data entries, as well as 3 million alloy structure data records. Moreover, it has trained a large-scale professional intelligent question-answering and intelligent design model for light alloys based on more than 100 million literature resources. Simultaneously, it has formed professional intelligent agents in the field of materials, enabling fully autonomous design, operation, and iterative optimization throughout the entire process, from atomic-scale modeling to performance prediction.
Practice has demonstrated that the platform can drive the transformation of material research and development towards a digital and intelligent model, enhancing research and development efficiency by over 50%. The project leader pointed out that " MagNova " has achieved a fundamental shift from traditional trial-and-error research and development to a data-driven, AI-empowered paradigm, which will reshape the research and development paradigm and propel the rapid development and innovative breakthroughs of new materials.
