On May 17, 2024, the "International Forum on Advanced Functional Materials" co-hosted by the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Chongqing University, the Functional Materials Society (under Preparation), and the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology was successfully held in a hybrid online-offline format, with the offline venue in Chongqing. The forum was chaired by Academician Fusheng Pan, Honorary Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Chongqing University; Academician Jürgen Eckert (Austrian Academy of Sciences), Director of the Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science, and Academician John Wang, Director of the National University of Singapore (Chongqing) Research Institute.
The forum was honored to invite six distinguished academicians and experts from six countries across China and Europe to deliver keynote speeches. Professors Yuan Yuan, Jun Tan, and Liang Wu from Chongqing University served as conveners, while Professor Yuan Yuan and Researcher Dajian Li, Manager of TESVOLT AG, chaired the sessions. Meanwhile, the conference was live-streamed on the WeChat Channel "JMACCMg" of the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (English Edition), attracting a total audience of nearly 3,500 views.

Academician Fusheng Pan delivered the openingspeech, warmly welcoming all academicians, experts and students attending the forum. He called on the global advanced materials community to unite, accelerate the development and application of functional materials, and jointly promote scientific and technological advancement.
