On March 18, 2023，Council of Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application (CCMA ) was successfully held in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province. More than 100 members and representatives from Chongqing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Central South University, Xiamen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northeastern University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Hefei University of Technology, Zhengzhou University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Ocean University of China, North University of China, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Bao Steel Metal Co., Ltd., Beijing Satellite Factory, China Electronics Technology Group Corporation- Group 30, Shanxi Yinguang Huasheng Magnesium Co., Ltd., Sunlight Metal and other units participated in the meeting. Prof. Pan Fusheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Materials Research (C-MRS), attended the conference. Professor Wu Yucheng, the deputy chairman of CCMA and deputy president of Hefei University of Technology, chaired this conference.
Prof. Pan gave a speech in the beginning. He extended a welcome to the participation of directors, experts and representatives, and thanked for their long-term strong support for CCMA. Prof. Pan briefly describe the work of CCMA in 2022, the development and application prospects of magnesium alloys. Then, Professor Chen Xianhua, Secretary-General of CCMA, reported the work of CCMA in 2022 from the aspects of academic exchange activities, international journals, international and domestic standards of magnesium alloy, science popularization activities and important awards, and put forward the key work in 2023. Subsequently, the conference discussed and confirmed the addition of four deputy directors, including Prof. Cui Hongzhi from Ocean University of China, Prof. Shan Zhiwei from Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Yang Bin from Kunming University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Zhen Zisheng, Technical Director of Magontec Xi' an Co., Ltd, as well as seven executive members and eighteen members. Professor Peng Xiaodong, executive associate editor of the Journal of Magnesium Alloys (JMA), presented the annual development report of JMA, and announced the winners of 2022 Outstanding Editorial Board members and Outstanding Youth Committee members of JMA. Academician Pan Fusheng awarded certificates to the winners.
After that, the key work and development plan of CCMA in 2023 was discussed. Prof. Yang Bin from Kunming University of Science and Technology, Prof. Shan Zhiwei from Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Yang Yuansheng from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Guan Shaokang from Zhengzhou University, Prof. Zhang Zhimin from North University of China, Prof. Du Wenbo from Beijing University of Technology, and General Manager Dong Chunming from Sunlight Metal provided suggestions. They discussed the key research directions, application fields, market expansion of domestic and international, organization of scientific and technological projects, construction of testing and processing standards, and organization of important conferences of magnesium alloys, and put forward a number of opinions and constructive suggestions.
Finally, academician Pan Fusheng summarized the conference, he praised the excellent work of CCMA in 2022, and thanked again to the directors and experts for their contributions and supports. The development of magnesium alloys needs to be combined with national strategic needs. He called on all member units work together to promote the development and application of magnesium alloy materials in the future.
