1. Magnesium wheels are increasingly under consideration by OEMs
The Nevera electric vehicle (EV) supercar pushes the limits of what can be achieved in the EV era. Swift and powerful, it can shift from zero to 60 mph in under two seconds. It is the result of three generations of powertrain technology, 18 prototypes, 45 physical crash tests and some 1.6 million collective hours spent in research and development. Croatian electric car maker Rimac Automobili recently said it will commence deliveries to US buyers following respective regulatory approvals.
SMW gained recognition for its lightweight wheel products when the Yamaha MotoGP Team, the line-up of which included Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, selected them as supplier of magnesium forgings in 2009, with legendary Roberto Marchesini actively involved in the project. Since then, the supplier has broadened its applications to include wheels for Elon Musk’s space-travelling Tesla Roadster.

2. Finalmouse Starlight Pro TenZ review: Does it live up to the hype?
The Finalmouse Starlight Pro TenZ gaming mouse is the result of a collaboration between TenZ and cult gaming peripherals brand Finalmouse — a reskinned version of their Starlight-12 mice with an anodized raw magnesium finish.
While Finalmouse drops are usually extremely limited, TenZ’s mouse launched with 40,000 units, the largest drop to date. Finalmouse drops usually sell out within minutes, before the mice reappear on aftermarket websites like StockX and eBay with hefty markups.
Finalmouse is also an incredibly polarizing brand. While diehard fans swear by collecting every single mouse the company releases, others have slammed it for its model of artificial scarcity and eye-watering prices.
There’s merit in both these camps. Crafted from ultralight magnesium alloy, the Starlight Pro is exquisite. But it’s also pricey at US$189 — and you’re gambling with quality control issues as with every other Finalmouse.

3. XDynamics from Taiwan to donate Evolve 2 drones to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian troops
The EVOLVE 2 was designed to provide aerial cinematographers with professional-grade filming capabilities and an advanced flight experience in a comprehensive package.
EVOLVE 2 is the smallest multi-rotor drone platform equipped with a mirror less Micro Four Thirds camera supported by a monocoque carbon-fiber airframe that minimizes weight for longer flight time while providing enhanced structural integrity. The magnesium alloy ventral plate provides heat dissipation while reducing vibration during flight. Combined with high-power motors and optimized propeller design; the aircraft can reach speeds over 55mph supporting high-quality cinematography for action sports, racing, wildlife photography and other challenging applications.

4. DJI Inspire 2 review: still the pro drone choice in 2022?
As we said, it’s big. Before you even put a useful camera and gimbal on the airframe, with two batteries, weights 3440g (just over 7.5 pounds) and the take-off weight can easily be over 4000g. Given that the machine is 605mm (23.8 inches) measured diagonally – not including the propellors – you’re not going to be launching this from your hands. Nor is transporting it that straightforward, especially once you start to build a collection of batteries.
While the machine looks impressive, and if you accept that the shape-changing design is the best way of freeing the camera from obstruction, it is not without design issues. The one which caught us most frequently – familiar with its predecessor as we are – was that the admittedly striking magnesium alloy hull also seemed keen to slice the tips of our fingers off when we lifted the drone to move it. Sure, there is a warning sticker, but it’s such a natural lifting point. The button-inside-a-button battery release didn’t seem the most practical solution (we always wanted both or neither to come off, so why make it fiddly?) though it must be said that the legs seem able to cushion a fairly firm stop if needed and they did stay out of shot for us. A very sharp direction change can spoil things though.

5. NIKKEI: “The VENICE Makes Sony Stronger in the Movie Field”
As stated in the article: “In 2000, Sony entered the digital motion picture camera market under the brand name CineAlta. However, there are many competitors from the era of film cameras such as German company ARRI. Sony, which was treated as a “newcomer” in the film industry that values tradition, was struggling to break down its stronghold of foreign companies. Venice, released in 2018, was a product that reviewed everything from scratch. The R&D was focused on how to improve the ease of use for film directors and other creators. The operation buttons are placed on both the left and right sides so that anyone can use them from either side on a busy work site. The specifications have also been reviewed, and simple operability has been pursued, such as completing basic settings with just 6 button operations. Durability in harsh shooting environments was also meticulously developed, such as by applying four layers of coating on the outer layer of magnesium alloy”.

6. PANASONIC GH6 REVIEW: AMAZING VIDEO, BUT THAT’S IT
The GH6 is made with a magnesium alloy frame, and I could feel the durable build while shooting with this camera. It’s a bit hefty, but the trade-off is that it feels quite sturdy. The controls and buttons also turn and push with a great sturdy feel.
The GH6 is weather-resistant. I shot through a rainy soccer game and the camera held up just fine. The vents on the side look a bit worrisome, but Panasonic says that the GH6 is fully weather-sealed and I certainly didn’t find anything to the contrary.
