On April 14, 2021, the Conference of Publicity and Implementation of 2021 International Standard on Magnesium Alloy and the Standard Training Seminar were successfully held in Chongqing. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application (CCMA). More than 40 representatives from China Nonferrous Metals Techno-Economic Research Institute Co., Ltd, Shandong Academy of Sciences, Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd., Shanxi Yinguang Huasheng Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., Guizhou Institute of Technology, Chongqing Boao Magnesium Aluminum Metal Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Chongqing Yuhua New Material Technology Co., Ltd., Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology, Chongqing University attended the conference. Professor Jingfeng Wang (vice president of CCMA and Party Secretary of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University) attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Associate Professor Jiangfeng Song of Chongqing University.
Professor Huan Xi (Secretary General from China Nonferrous Metals Techno-Economic Research Institute Co., Ltd) and Professor Jingfeng Wang of Chongqing University delivered welcome speech successively, emphasizing the importance of standard work to the development of magnesium alloy industry. Subsequently, Professor Xianhua Chen (Project leader of ISO 23700 International Standard, vice president of College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University) publicized and implemented the newly released ISO 23700:2021 International standard " Wrought magnesium and magnesium alloys —Rolled plates and sheets ", and introduced to the delegates about the domestic and foreign magnesium alloy plate and sheet manufacturers and current standards on magnesium alloy plate and sheet. The purpose and significance of issuing ISO 23700 are also introduced. Mr. Xinyu Gao (Project leader of ISO 23694, senior engineer of Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd.) and Prof. Ping Zeng (Project leader of ISO 20258, Professor of Guizhou Institute of Technology) shared experience on international standard development and had a warm discussion with the delegates.
Secretary General Huan Xi of Research Institute of Nonferrous Technology and Economics Co., Ltd. trained the delegates on International Standards guidelines. The training contains "International Standardization and Internationalization of Standards", "China's measures for the management of International Standardization Activities", "The main role of enterprises in International Standardization Activities", "Basic information on international standards in the field of non-ferrous metals" and "Thinking on the construction of standard system in the field of magnesium and magnesium alloys". After the training, the participants had in-depth discussions on performance test standards, standard data sources and the significance of forward-looking standard formulation.
