On June 8th, 2021, Mr. Fengqi Chen, Party Secretary of Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province, and his delegation visited Chongqing University to discuss cooperation. Professor Fusheng Pan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of Chongqing Science and Technology Association and honorary director of the CCMg; and Prof. Ming Ju, vice president of Chongqing University, met with the visitors. Professor Caichao Zhu, president of Institute of Science and Technology Development, Chongqing University; Professor Jingfeng Wang, Party secretary of the College of Materials Science and Technology; and Professor Dingfei Zhang, director of the CCMg, attended the meeting.

At the symposium, Vice President Ming Ju firstly expressed a warm welcome to Mr. Fengqi Chen and his delegation on behalf of Chongqing University, and then briefly introduced the basic situation of Chongqing University in scientific research, talent training, discipline construction, and transformation of results, etc. He hoped that Lanxi City could establish targeted and practical cooperation with Chongqing University and pointed out that both sides could explore a new cooperation model with research institutions to better drive industry and serve social and economic development.
Speech by Secretary Chen Fengqi
Mr. Fengqi Chen introduced the long history of Lanxi City and its development and strategic planning in recent years, as well as the layout of key industries. He pointed out that Lanxi City is one of the important industrial cities in the central and western part of Zhejiang Province and is one of the first counties in Zhejiang to be transformed into a city and one of the first counties with financial resources of over 100 million RMB. At present, Lanxi City is vigorously developing five major emerging industries such as new materials, medicine and health, new energy transportation equipment, energy conservation and environmental protection, etc. The industry is developing rapidly. In early 2020, Lanxi City established “the Jinlan Innovation City Development and Construction Centre” to accelerate its integration into the Yangtze River Delta. He hopes to develop stable long-term cooperation with Chongqing University and cooperate with the National Magnesium Centre to set up a high-end research and development platform for magnesium alloys in Lanxi Jinlan Innovation City, promoting the development of Lanxi's "provincial high-tech industrial park for functional new materials."
Speech by Academician Fusheng Pan
Academician Pan expressed his gratitude to the Lanxi municipal government on the cooperation with CCMg, and pointed out that a full range of technical services, platform construction, achievement transformation and talent training can be formed to promote the cooperation between Chongqing University and Lanxi City. The main research direction of CCMg and Lanxi City both focused on the layout of functional new materials industry development, we can start scientific and technological cooperations on the excellent industrial prospects of magnesium orthopedic materials, magnesium-based hydrogen storage materials, magnesium batteries, and health preservation with magnesium materials and other fields.
At the end of the seminar, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the cooperation areas and directions. The specific contents and ways of cooperation in magnesium-based materials and technologies were discussed and determined.
