The impact factor of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys sponsored by Chongqing University ranked in No. 1 in the world

30 June 2021

On June 30, 2021, Clarivate Analytics released the 2020 Journal Citation Report. The impact factor of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) (Editor in Chief: Prof. Fusheng Pan) sponsored by Chongqing University increased rapidly from 7.115 (IF: 7.115) last year to 10.088 (IF: 10.088), surpassing ACTA Materialia and ranking in No. 1 among the 80 journals in Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering category (JCR Q1). JMA has become one of the most influential academic journals on metallurgy and metallic materials in the world. It is an important breakthrough in the international academic influence of Chongqing University.

Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was founded in 2013 by the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMg) of Chongqing University and Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application. Prof. Fusheng Pan from Chongqing University serves as editor-in-chief while Prof. Xiaodong Peng serves as executive deputy associate editor. The editorial board members consist of well-known experts in the field of magnesium alloys from nearly 20 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia. The editorial board members include the member of the American Academy of Engineering, president of the International Magnesium Association, the chairman of the Korean Materials Society, the editor-in-chief of Acta Mater and Mater Sci Eng A, etc.. The editors of JMA include Dr. Yan Yang, and Dr. Jiangfeng Song who have overseas education experience. The construction and development of JMA has been strongly supported by experts and scholars in the field of magnesium alloys. Several high-level papers have been published in JMA by world-famous magnesium alloy research institutions.  The academic quality and impact of the journal continues to increase. JMA has been indexed by the SCI, Scopus and EI, etc. In 2019, JMA was successfully selected as the leading journal of the "China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan" and is one of the 22 leading journals in China. It is the only national leading journal in the field of materials and metallurgy in China, and one of the four leading journals in central and western of China.

Magnesium alloy is one of the most promising lightweight materials in the 21st century and has great potential under the background of carbon neutralization and carbon peak. As the first international journal on magnesium alloys in the world, JMA has received strong support from Chongqing University, China Association for Science and Technology, Chongqing Administration of Press and Publication, famous Mg centers and Keai publishing company since its establishment, which enhance the rapid and high-quality development of JMA. The editorial office of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys will continue to work hard strengthen the internationalization, branding and digital construction of the journal, with the purpose to further enhance the international impact, build an international brand journal, contribute to the construction of ‘double first-class’ of Chongqing University, and construct the world-class scientific and technological journal in China.
