On December 26, 2021, the signing and bronze plaque unveiling ceremony of "Joint Research and Development Center for Advanced Magnesium Technology", jointly found by Chongqing University and Baosteel Metal Co., Ltd., were held in Guangzhou. Prof. Fusheng Pan (Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of Chongqing Science and Technology Association, honorary director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Chongqing University (CCMG)), and Weidong Qi (the President of Baosteel Metal Co., Ltd.) attended the ceremony. Prof. Jingfeng Wang (Party Secretary in the college of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing University, Deputy Director of CCMG), hosted the ceremony.
Academician Fusheng Pan and President Weidong Qi delivered speeches on behalf of Chongqing University and Baosteel Metal Co., Ltd, respectively. They signed and inaugurated the "Joint Research and Development Center for Advanced Magnesium Technology".
Both sides highly appraised this strong association and deep collaboration. The depth collaboration between CCMG and central mega-leading enterprise Baowu Group and the level-up of national strategy of development of magnesium and magnesium alloys with respects of the current research and application is promising.
Both sides said that they will fully utilize the platform of "Joint Research and Development Center for Advanced Magnesium Technology". Taking the sign of this joint R&D center as a new starting point, the research and development (R&D) priorities of Chongqing University and the new material development strategies of Baowu Group will be combined. They will jointly undertake the national major strategic tasks, thus making magnesium materials bigger and stronger, promoting the high-quality development of China's magnesium industry.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange on the functional orientation, development goals, cooperation areas, research directions, talent exchange and cultivation, resource sharing, as well as the operation and management of the center for the "Joint Research and Development Center for Advanced Magnesium Technology".
Some of the research backbone of CCMG in Chongqing University, including Xianhua Chen, Aitao Tang, Jian Peng, Jun Tan, Jinxing Wang, Jiangfeng Song, Jianbo Li, Jia She and Hong Yang, attended the signing ceremony. Yong Hu, Weineng Tang, Yuling Xu, Ning Mo and Botao Li, coming from Baosteel Metal Investment and Development Department and Technology Center, attended the ceremony. Representatives and professors from the Institute of New Materials of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Guangdong National Research Center of Science and Technology Co., Ltd, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Southwest University, Chongqing University of Technology and other institutions witnessed this signing and inauguration ceremony.
