On July 8, the 2026 Shanghai International Magnesium Industry Exhibition kicked off at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Lasting three days, the event made its debut as a standalone professional exhibition. It was co-located with four exhibitions: Aluminum China · Industrial Material Shanghai,, Lightweight Asia, Shanghai International Copper Industry Exhibition, and Shanghai International Metal Recycling Expo. The exhibitions showcased innovative achievements across the entire magnesium‑industry value chain, ranging from raw materials and processing equipment to end‑use applications. The 2026 Forum on the Application and Development of Magnesium‑Based New Materials was also held concurrently.

As a key supporting event of the exhibition, the "2026 Forum on the Application and Development of Magnesium‑Based New Materials" focused on key themes including breakthroughs in cutting‑edge magnesium‑alloy technologies, innovation in large‑scale applications, and collaborative upgrading of the industrial chain. It brought together domestic and international industry experts, corporate representatives and scholars from research institutions to explore new pathways for the high‑quality development of the industry. Qian Sun, Vice‑President and Secretary‑General of the Magnesium Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, attended the forum and delivered an address.
