Mingyue Lake Strengthens Its Magnesium Innovation Drive: Phase Lab Intelligent Platform Makes Global Debut and Hongzhi-Mingyue Joint Laboratory Is Inaugurated

27 May 2026

Recently, the High-Quality Development Forum on Big Data and Intelligent Design of Magnesium Materials was held in Chongqing. During the forum, the Phase Lab Intelligent R&D Platform for Magnesium Alloys made its global debut, and the Hongzhi-Mingyue Joint Laboratory was officially inaugurated. With a focus on innovative magnesium materials R&D and the commercialization of research outcomes, Mingyue Lake has gained two powerful new tools to drive innovation.

The Phase Lab Intelligent R&D Platform for Magnesium Alloys is jointly developed by Mingyue Lake Laboratory, HZWTECH (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Harbin Institute of Technology. Integrating intelligent modules including composition design and property prediction, the platform will greatly accelerate magnesium alloy R&D and facilitate the transition from laboratory research to industrial application.

The Hongzhi-Mingyue Joint Laboratory is co-established by HZWTECH (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Mingyue Lake Laboratory. The joint laboratory aims to deepen industry-academia-research collaboration, focus on cutting-edge technologies for the intelligent design of advanced materials, and provide sustained momentum for the digital and intelligent transformation of the magnesium industry.

Hongzhi-Mingyue Laboratory Officially Unveiled

It is reported that the High-Quality Development Forum on Big Data and Intelligent Design of Magnesium Materials adopts the theme of " A Magnificent New Journey Intelligent Blueprint at Mingyue Lake ", brought together academicians, renowned experts and scholars in materials science, as well as industry representatives, to jointly explore the intelligent transformation of magnesium alloy R&D approaches and the development of the industrial ecosystem. Co-hosted by Mingyue Lake Laboratory, Chongqing Yunzhi Materials Big Data Research Institute, Chongqing Materials Society, with the support of the journal Journal of Magnesium and Alloys.

At the opening ceremony, Fusheng Pan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of Mingyue Lake Laboratory, Chairman of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys and Professor of Chongqing University, delivered a speech. He said materials science is transforming from empirical trial and error to data-driven research. The development of magnesium alloys must actively embrace artificial intelligence technologies, foster an open and collaborative innovation ecosystem, and strengthen the industry’s core competitiveness in future lightweight applications.
